QUAD - August 2010 4th July ACU/NoraSport British Quad Supermoto: Round 4 SportsCity, Manchester Report: Dick Law It was the third time that Supermoto had come to the iconic SportsCity stadium. The weekend was bright and sunny with a cooling breeze to keep the riders more comfortable as they limbered up in hot leathers between races. Competitor numbers were swelled with the addition of riders from the QRA, including organiser Tony Nash. Irishman Cathal McCarten was in a class of his own with only Mike Taylor getting the better of him for race one. Taylor got the holeshot at the start of the first race with McCarten chasing hard. Craig Kilner and Joe Hodgson filled the next two places with Mat Lawry fifth. The order stayed the same, with Taylor pulling out more and more of lead, until the last lap when he caught his leg while coming from the off-road section and dislocated his knee. Sidelined for the rest of the day, Taylor said, "I'm okay now, but it hurt like hell until they managed to get it back in the socket." With race-red flagged after two riders had a 'coming together', the results were taken from the last full lap completed, giving Taylor the win. With Taylor out, McCarten took full advantage and took a start to finish win in heat two, with Kilner second and Hodgson third, chased over the finish line by a determined Lawry. An excellent ride by speedway regular Lee Hazelwood saw him finish fifth. In the final race of the day McCarten had it all his own way again as he lead from start to finish and seemed to revel in the challenging, fast, off-road section with massive air time over the Skyzone tabletop. Lawry was second, just a few seconds behind the leader, with Kilner third and David Holman, who had made his way up through the field fighting for every metre of space in front of him and earning a top four finish in his second championship appearance. Race one: 1. Mike Taylor, 2. Cathal McCarten, 3. Craig Kilner, 4. Joe Hodgson, 5. Mat Lawry, 6. Lee Hazelwood, 7. David Holman, 8. Chris Wright, 9. Sam Hodgson, 10. Marc Beevers Race two: 1. McCarten, 2. Kilner, 3. Hodgson, 4. Lawry, 5. Hazelwood, 6. D Holman, 7. Beevers, 8. Luke Holman, 9. Wright, 10. Ian Russell Race three: 1. McCarten, 2. Lawry, 3. Kilner, 4. D Holman, 5. QUAD - August 2010 4th July ACU/Nora-MX Quad Championship: Round 7 Enstone, Oxfordshire Report: Yvonne Meade The seventh round of Nora-MX's 2010 championship saw a healthy turn out of riders with 145 signed on for the SS Construction-sponsored event. It was Carl Bunce's day in the adult experts' class with a second behind Stefan Murphy in the first race, followed by two terrific wins. In race two Oli Sansom fought hard with Murphy for second place and just gaining the edge at the line. Samsom took the 37 points, redeeming himself after a disappointing result in race one. Race three, and Murphy and Bunce were out of the gates and gone, unfortunately, a momentarily lapse of concentration six laps in, and Murphy was off his machine and hitting the ground hard. Sheldon Seal was well placed to capitalize on Murphy's misfortune and fended off Sansom to secure second place. George Callaway, who moved from the 250 class, walked away yet again with the silverwear in the intermediate class, with 113 points for his endeavors. Just two points adrift, in second place overall on the day, was Tyler Soar and, rounding up the podium, in third place was Ryan Griffin. The clubman class was a five-way battle for the top spots. Jody Whitmore took race one just ahead of Aaron Pole and Liam Garbett. A race two role reversal saw Garbet take the win with Whitmore and Ashley McConnell second and third. The final race was a hard fought battle between Whitmore and Scott Linley. Whitmore took the chequered flag, just seconds ahead of Linley and Garbett. Ed Davies took the overall win on the day in the masters, with three straight wins. Geoff Sharp and Antony Barrett fought all day as usual for second and third positions. Luke Cooper was yet again unbeatable in the 250 modified class. Harry Miller rode well to take three second places and Josh Coombs was happy to take third place overall on the day. Alex Thompson continued to dominate the 250 open class again with a perfect score sheet and 120 points. Fellow riders Ryan Turner and Christian Morris fought to the wire for podium finishes. Turner took second overall on the day, just two points ahead of Morris in third. Harry Moore and Luke Davies of the 250 standard and stock classes were as impressive as always with three straight wins each in their respective class. All modified, standard and geared 100cc machines lined up together and scored in their respective classes. The action between the trio of Bradley Swinbank, Harry Walker and Bailey Edwards in the geared class was non-stop, with the young lads swapping race positions throughout the day. Jordan Harris cleaned up in the modified class with three great wins, leaving fellow racers Jordan Hickman and Dafydd Davies second and third. Marloe Magee had a great day's racing taking first place overall in the standard class, as did Connor Fitzgerald who finished second. It was certainly all smiles for the number 52 machine of Elysha Crane who secured third overall on the day. The young 50cc standard and stock riders had a cracking day. Shelley Smart stamped her mark on the day's racing on her modified machine, taking home the trophy with three impressive wins. Abbie Pittaway also had a good day with three second place finishes. Bobby Carmichael was third. With only four points separating the front runners of Dafydd Brown, Toby Boothroyd and Reece Swan, the last race of the day was the decider in the standard class and, with the final race win, Dafydd was victorious. QUAD - August 2010 27th June Gravity LC: Round 8 Bowshot Farm, Dorset Report: Tom Miller Brilliant sunshine and hot weather greeted racers as they turned up to the fast and excellent Bowshot race track. Racing under clear skies the 50cc and 100cc races got under way with non-stop action from start to finish. The excellent track challenged both rider skill and nerve as racing lines were laid down and, as the day got hotter, so did the action. The 250cc race kicked up dust a-plenty which just added another dimension to the demanding conditions. There were very few DNFs and the track was well set-up and designed for all levels of rider with fast field, to tricky wood sections. Every rider was given a good workout and the feed-back was positive at the end of the day. Youth 100cc entry: 1. Alex Bone, 2. Tom Day, 3. Jemima Hepworth 100cc intermediate: 1. Craig George, 2. QUAD - August 2010 20th June Scottish QX Championship: Round 5 Tinto Moto Park, Lanark Report: Hugh Miller At first glance this moto park looked to have the makings of a very good set-up, but on further examination of the race track it's clear the owners have a lot of work to do to get the track to a championship standard. The lower part of the track is taking shape but the hills, especially for the kids classes, are just a step too far, Abbey Walton was one of the first to seek medical attention. She was soon followed by Mark Hadden, and the list went on. Mark suffered a broken tibia and fibula and a few ankle bones. Star riders on the day with three race wins apiece were Justin Gunning, 50cc standards; Ayrton Knowles, 50cc modifieds ; Ryan Mcleish,100 geared; Luke Gunning, 100 standard and Scott Wilson, 250 standards . The 50cc standard class had only one rider in the form of Justin Gunning. The 50cc mods had a better showing with Aaron Swan taking a great second overall behind Ayrton and Aiden Henry, Ben Mcleish and Charlie Campbell filling the following slots. The 100 geared class was dominated by Ryan McLeish but never far behind was the ever-improving Lawrence Whyte, with Zoe Neil taking third overall with two thirds and a fourth place. The 100cc mods provided a good set of races with Thomas Tobin, Abbey Clark, Ewan Mcnair and Cameron Barr all in the mix. Ewan and Cameron tied on 54 points. The 100 standards finally saw some competition for Luke Gunning, in the shape of Cai Lindsay and it's good to see this class building again. The 200/250 mod race was a close run thing with Liam Nicol taking first overall, but never far behind was the double-jumping Murray Graham and Blair Brown - for these three riders the track was a real challenge, but a challenge they relished. The 250 standard races were dominated by the flying Geordie, Scot Wilson, with James Frew taking a good second and Jamie Swan taking third. The 250 hybrid class is slightly down on numbers at the moment but this did not detract from the racing with Scott Sinclair having a great day with two race wins. He was leading the third until a mechanical breakdown left the door open for the ever-improving Ryan Wilkinson to take first overall with Steven Begrie claiming a race win and second overall. Overall the juniors had a good days racing, but to the few who were injured we send our best wishes and hope they get well soon. 50cc std: 1. Justin Gunning 50cc mod: 1. Ayrton Knowles, 2. QUAD - August 2010 20th June ACU/Nora-MX Quad Championship: Round 6 Howton Court, Pontrilas, Hereford Report: Jade Pole Pontrilas is a new track to Nora-MX and it proved to be perfect for quadcross riders. It had everything from steep hills to big drop-offs, large jumps and a trick rhythm section. The expert and the inters racing didn't disappoint with new-to-Nora-MX British championship racers David and Simon Hammersley giving Stefan Murphy and Jason Macbeth a run for their money. Race one was won by Hammersley D, but Macbeth, Hammersley S and Murphy were hot on his wheels. Race two saw Murphy first out of the gate and into the lead. He had a lot of competition from Hammersley S and Carl Bunce but it was Murphy who claimed the win. Race three went in favour of Macbeth with Murphy third and Hammersley S third. The inters battled hard all day. Richard Abbot took two wins from three races with Oliver Drabble taking the other one. Overall went to Abbot with Drabble second and Ryan Griffin third. Welshman and event sponsor Ed Davies, took three straight wins in the masters class. In the first race, he was off and away flying from the start, leaving Geoff Sharp and Darren Bridge to take second and third respectively. In race three, Sharp Ant Barrett and Chris Murphy were battling it out for the second to fourth places. Sharp and Barrett finished second and third overall behind Davies. Cain Rogers dominated the clubman class, leaving Scott Linley to recover from an 'off' in the first race and take second in the last two races and second overall on the day, ahead of Jamie Clarke. Over in the youth scene, flying Irish lad Alex Thompson came out on top with back-to-back wins in the 250cc open, with Mark McLemon second. In the 250cc modifieds, Leon Rogers produced three well earned race wins, securing the overall on the day. Showing that consistency does pay off, Luke Cooper took second and Daniel Roach third. Callum Bates won the first 250cc standard group race with Connor Taylor and Luke Davies behind. Daniel Lewis shook off a first race accident to win the next two races and take first overall. Excellent racing in the 250cc stock class saw Harry Moore cross the finish line first in all three races, closely followed by Connor and Shannon McKenna. The 100cc quads all lined up together and Harry Walker took straight wins in the geared category; Jordan Harris, followed by Jordan Hickman and Rhys Brown did the same in the modifieds; and Connor Fitzgerard took the overall win in the standard class with Marloe Magee keeping him company. In the 50cc modified class, the girls showed the boys the way home with Abbie Pittaway scooping three race wins and Shelly Smart second. Dafydd Brown won all three races in the standards. In the 50cc class Joel Hunter won the holeshot in the class final race, closely followed by Ashley Bodenham and Tom Ritchie, with newcomer Josh Crozier not too far behind. On the last lap Tom slipped past Joel to take the win with Joel second and Ashley third. In the LT-A50 group, Simon McCabe was up front with Lee Curran, Megan Ferguson and Tierna Campbell keeping him company. An accident sidelined Tierna, leaving Simon to take first place ahead of Megan in second and Lee third. Stefan Grieve won the 100cc water-class category with Ciaran McMullan second and Stephen Campbell-Porter third. An unfortunate spin in front of the time-keepers cost Ronan Mooney valuable seconds but he managed to get it back on track to finish fifth overall. The 110cc standard class saw the front runners of Jarleth Kelly, James Reid and Gary Shaw battling hard, with few points separating them at the end of the day. In the modified group final Blake McCormick took a start to finish win, with second placed Stephen Mulholland taking the overall win on the day. Christopher Craigavon led the 80cc B final followed by Jack Moore. Jack retired two laps from the finish with gear box problems, leaving Dion McVey to take second and Jamie Stirling third. The 80cc A final saw Daniel Harper grabbing the holeshot ahead of Mark McKay. A bad fall in the opening lap put an end to Mark's day. Gary Dillon raced to the chequered flag in first position, second was Daniel with Jordan Dillon rounding off the top three. The girls ruled in the Blaster B class with Emma Fitzsimmons finished second behind Ross McKay. The Blaster A final saw some great racing and James Tougher emerged triumphant with Steven Haugh, Jason Hunter, Jamie Hunter and Andrew Compton following him across the line. In the 250 class Gareth Graham held off Katherine Tougher and Dean Spence. - DQ Racing
QUAD - August 2010 13th June DQ Racing: UK GNCC Round 4 Bwlch Y Sarnau, Mid Wales Report: Sally Seargeant-Evans A great track with a good mix of motocross and off-camber fields and woods, awaited the DQR members for round four. Rain earlier in the week had kept the dust down and the youth races kicked off on time at 8.30am. In the 8-10 class, George Betton claimed his fourth win of the year with Declan Bayliss in second and Declan McKenna close on his wheels in third. Sion Emberton was flying around the course earning him a victory in the over 10's for the third time this season. The Blasters were out at 10.30 and a better round for the top runners saw Danny Lloyd first and Tom Claireaux second. Ricky Roberts took a hard fought and close third, with Dexter Langford not far behind and Elliot Downes fifth. Over in the adult ranks, Andrew Sheperd won the novice class with Geraint Jones and Spen Davies keeping him company. The battle is now on between Monty Jones and Luke Forrester in the clubman class and in the Experts John Wilding beat the clock to put in an extra lap over fellow class competitors John Roberts and Gary Wright. The Expert + riders were on a mission with a great round for Martin Benbow who took first place just 37 seconds ahead of Liam Ryland, leaving Clint Eagle to take third. In the 4x4 class Simon Lang grabbed his first win of the season, with Michael Harbour a minute and a half behind. The 50cc machines were out first and saw the top two riders dicing for the lead in the A final, with Curtis Sizer claiming the win. The LTA 50cc class was won by Megan Ferguson, with Lee Curran a close second and Joshua Brannigan third. In the Open 110cc, Blake McCormick grabbed the holeshot and the class provided some exciting action with the top three riders of Stephen Darren and Blake wheel-to-wheel in the first two races. Blake took a tumble in the final race, but got back on track to finish fifth. Stephen Mullholland took overall on the day with Blake McCormick second and Darren Owens third. The 80cc A final was another cracking race with three friends jostling for the podium places. Jack McCoy clinched the win, followed across the line by Gary and Jordan Dillon. Great sportsmanship between the boys. The 80cc B Final was won by Taylor Dillon with Dion McVey a very close second ahead of Kyle Spence. The 200cc Blasters were fast and furious and, after a big pile up in the first corner, it was anyone's race! Once separated, the battle was with riders making their way through from the back of the pack. James Tougher took the race spoils, with young Ross McKay second and Paul Edgar third. An increase in numbers in the 210cc/250cc made for an exciting race with Gareth Graham crashing in the first corner but eventually pulling up to take second place just behind Gary Lowe who also spun in the last corner. QUAD - August 2010 12th/13th June ORE Events: UK International 6 Hour Enduro and youth races, Temple Cloud, Bristol Report: Mike Samuel. Photography: Shine Photography. The ORE Club organised a full two-day weekend of racing activity, with Saturday concentrating on youth races and Sunday set aside for the adult 6-hour endurance race. Away from the race track was a full schedule of events including a disco, hog roast and evening entertainment. It proved to be a great weekend for racers and spectators alike with great weather, great entertainment, a great track and two days of great quad racing. Most of the course was visible from the end of the main straight as the racers roared up and down the valley and carved their way through the wooded sections. The warm weather and dry conditions made the track dry and dusty which gave good grip for the quads so high speed cornering and fast straight line speed ensured a great show for the spectators. The weekend got underway with the youth races; six to eight year olds on 50cc quads, the competitive over eights on 100cc autos and 12 to 16 year olds on 250cc. The classes were well represented; with the grids full of enthusiastic youngsters all waiting to show they are future champions. The course was a mixture of demanding climbs and descents, fast sweeping corners and a straight disused railway section that ran through a wooded area, in the middle of which the organisers had installed a ramp to slow the racers, this added to the fun as all the racers took it as a personal challenge see who could jump the furthest and be the most stylish in the air. The course was approximately 2.5 miles in length and there was no time to relax as the technical course demanded respect and the rider's full concentration. 100cc - 125cc Autos Race One The 40-minute race quickly settled into two separate races. In the expert group Jamie Bone and Jack Hurley pulled out a slight lead over the remaining expert class riders, in third and fourth place Jack Norris and Bradley Cockrem were separated by no more than a few seconds for the entire race as the quick pace, high temperatures and demanding track took the upmost concentration. In the B group Harry Grant, Iestyn Rowlands and Brett Currall had a great race-long dice for podium places with the top spot eventually going to Harry Grant. The unluckiest competitor of the day was Kieran Baxter who wrecked a gearbox on lap three in race one, dad and chief mechanic, Simon rebuilt the gearbox between races only for the second gearbox to fail on lap four in race two. Race Two Jamie Bone and Jack Hurley once again broke away in the experts, followed by Jack Norris, Sophie Bailey, Bradley Cockrem and Daniel Samuel. Joseph Perrin must be mentioned here as, in only his second race and being one of the youngest competitors in the field, he managed to finish a very credible tenth place in both races. 250s The 250s put on a good show for the spectators. Harry Timbrell, Liam Glover and Jack Price-Draper had a race-long, high-speed chase for the top positions. This was repeated in race two with Jack Godfrey joining the chase as he raced to a splendid second place. In the 250 B group Daniel Shellard, Kyle Hawkes and Luke Schroeder claimed the top three slots in both races with Daniel and Luke claiming one race win apiece. 50cc auto up to eight years: Race one: 1. Guy Keenan Sunday's 6 hour endurance race The ORE 6-Hour enduro kicked off at 11:00am on Sunday with a Le Mans style start, triggered by a large rocket fired by starter Duncan Irons. The starting positions were determined by rider practice lap times. The first corner was interesting with 50-plus riders all aiming for the same piece of track, everyone made it through in one piece with some wheel banging and elbowing. The enduro was well and truly underway. The teams of Wildman/Murphy and Beda/Chilcott led the race on the opening laps and soon pulled out a gap on the rest of the field but with an estimated 100-plus laps expected of the faster teams it was soon evident that fast, flowing riding rather than extreme-style would prove to be the winner. The spectacle of the event was at the end of the main straight where the faster quad racers were scrubbing off speed entering a sweeping right hand bend, before entering a complex of flowing corners, there were some outrageous overtaking manoeuvres, thankfully all accomplished with no incidents. Ironman Martin Everson qualified in the top third of the field only for his chain to snap and shatter the engine casing as he tried to fire his quad off the starting line. It was unlucky lap thirteen for ironman Martin Powell, when the balance shaft and most of the engine internals made an exit through the bottom of his engine casing on the main straight while at top speed. The track gradually began to cut up with the constant pounding of quads. The corners became rutted and the hill climbs became increasingly difficult to negotiate. As fatigue set in, this started to affect some of the riders and the concentration levels dropped there were several incidents but all the riders recovered to finish the race. The range of quads used for the race was intriguing with 200cc Blasters mixing it with full-race 450's and agricultural 4X4 machinery. At the end of the two-day event, riders and spectators alike agreed it had been a brilliant weekend's quad racing, enjoyed by all and everyone committed to return for the next event. QUAD - July 2010 6th June Gravity LC XC Championship: Round 7 Church Farm, Batcombe, Dorset Report: Tom Miller Gravity LC headed to Batcombe for the seventh round of its cross county championship, a track famous for its exciting and challenging terrain. The competitors and their families gathered for a Saturday evening pre-race non-competitive event with plenty of fun and food on offer. Sunny conditions greeted the racers on Sunday morning, and the 5-7 year-olds, on their 50cc machines, took to the track first, followed by the 100cc class. Their track was a mixture of fast flowing fields, tight sections and the odd slight hill thrown in for good measure. The course was modified for the 250cc riders with a long stony downhill section which lead into woodland. With a few more challenging lines added in the wood section, the adults dodged the stones and bumps and, despite the earlier weather forecast, raced under a sunny sky. 100 Entry: 1. Alex Bone, 2. QUAD - July 2010 6th June ACU/Norasport British Quad Supermoto: Round 3 Three Sisters, Wigan An increased number of riders in the quad class didn't deter Mike Taylor who took a convincing win, some thirteen seconds ahead of Colin Jackson and Matt Lawry in third. Two of the new riders, namely Sam Bryan and Simon Walton, put in impressive performances to finish fifth and sixth on their mx-spec machines. Race two saw Lawry take a start to finish win with an on-form Gareth Thomas holding Taylor at bay in third and Sam Hodgson fourth. The final race of the day was all about three riders. Despite an early lead, Lawry was reeled back in by Thomas who was being chased by Taylor. Taylor took second place midway through the race but a mistake made in the penultimate lap allowed Thomas through only for backmarkers to come into play. The leading trio were close and battling hard when a last dash to the line saw Thomas out wide and Taylor took the second position behind Lawry. Results: 1. Matt Lawry, 2. Mike Taylor, 3. Gareth Thomas, 4. Sam Hodgson, 5. Chris Wright - Scottish QX
QUAD - July 2010 29th May Scottish QX Championship: Round 3 Rhynie, Scotland Report: Hugh Miller Scheduled as a double-header, the third and fourth rounds of the Scottish QX Championship suffered at the hands of the weather god. Saturday basked in glorious sunshine but a downpour the following day put paid to any racing. Some of the best riders on the day were Connor Smith, Scott Wilson, Lawrence Whyte and Luke Gunning - all managing to grab three race wins in their respective classes. Connor Smith was probably the only person who wanted the rain in Scotland on Sunday, as he was making the long haul south to Oxfordshire to take part in the Nora-MX championship. In the 100cc geared class, the chap to beat was Lawrence Whyte and despite a gallant effort from Dylan Wilkinson and Ryan Mcleish, Lawrence took the chequered flag first in all three races. The 100 mods saw some close racing with Thomas Tobin doing just enough to take the overall first ahead of Stuart Kirchacz and Cameron Barr. The standards was dominated by the flying Luke Gunning. The 250 open (hybrid class) was the Connor Smith show but not too far back was a closer race with Steven Beagrie and Scott Sinclair. The 200 mods proved to be a closer run thing with A J Third taking two race wins, but even this was not enough to take first overall. That honour was taken by Liam Nicol with two seconds and a great win in the third race. Never far behind was the-ever improving Murray Graham. In the 200 standards it was the far-travelled Scott Wilson who stole the show with three race wins, although Scott would be the first to say he took a massive gamble by removing his goggles just after the start of the first race. Jamie Swan took a great second overall with Nathan Rae in third. 50cc mod: 1. Aaron Swan, 2. Aiden Henry, 3. Ben McLeish 50cc std: 1. Gunning 100cc geared: Lawrence Whyte, 2. Dylan Wilkinson, 3. QUAD - July 2010 31st May ACU/Nora-MX Quad Championship: Round 5 Wroxton, Oxfordshire Report: Yvonne Mead As expected, expert riders Carl Bunce and Stefan Murphy were on form. But the attacking pack of Oli Sansom, Ben Harman and Sheldon Seal did not make it easy for them over the course of the day. Sansom took position on the third step of the podium, with Bunce first and Murphy second. Brad Frost in the inters class had a cracking day's racing with two race wins and a second place finish, taking first overall. Oliver Drabble secured second on the day, 13 points ahead of Joshua Kirby in third. Having suffered a slightly mixed bag of results the previous day, Aaron Pole took an impressive first overall on the day, with 117 points. Scott Linley and Ashley McConnell took second and third respectively. No change in the masters class, Eddie Davies was again unchallenged all day, with three straight race wins. Antony Barrett and Geoff Sharp continued their battle and finished the day tied on 107 points. Irish Lad Alex Thompson stole the show yet again with three race wins in the 250 open class, while Connor Smith produced three well earned second place finishes. Consistency was the name of the game for Tom Downes with the overall win in the modified class, leaving Jamie Morgan and Luke Cooper to battle it out for second and third. Daniel Lewis and Harry Moore showed no mercy in their respective classes of standard and stock machines, each gaining first place overall. The 100cc machine of Bradley Swinbank was singing, producing the fastest lap times and securing the win in each of the races. Bailey Edwards and Harry Walker fought all day, with Edwards just taking the overall ahead of Walker - they both acquired 107 points for their endeavours. Jordan Hickman took first overall in the modified class, with Dafydd Davies and Joshua Crane joining him on the podium. Connor Fitzgerald, Marloe Magee and Elysha Crane in the standard all put in sterling performances to gain their well-earned podium finishes. Joseph Davies dominated the standard class in the 50cc group. Shelly Smart of the modified class was beaming with her day' performance, with a third and two first place finishes. The stock class overall win, with yet another first class performance went to newcomer Alfie Walker. Sophie Harries, also new to quad racing had a great day, finishing second overall, just two points ahead of Ashley Wythe. Experts: 1. C Bunce, 2. S Murphy, 3. O Sansom Inter: 1. B Frost, 2. QUAD - July 2010 30th May ACU/Nora-MX Quad Championship: Round 4 Wroxton, Oxfordshire Report: Yvonne Mead As anticipated, the combined class of experts and inters did not disappoint. Stefan Murphy took the win in race one, but never far behind were Carl Bunce and Jason Macbeth. Race two went in favour of Macbeth with Murphy second and Bunce third. In the final race of the day, Macbeth and Murphy cleared off from the start with Bunce back in the pack and facing a lot of work ahead. Macbeth crossed the line first to take the chequered flag ahead of Murphy and Paul Winrow in third. The inters were battling relentlessly throughout the day for race wins. Oliver Drabble took race one spoils ahead of Luke Sanfillippo. In race two, Sanfillippo showed Ryan Griffin his back wheels, as did Tyler Soar in race three. But it was Drabble who took the overall win on the day, with a race win and two second place finishes. Despite two race wins for Jamie Clarke in the clubman class, it just wasn't enough to take the overall. Cameron Brown capitalised on Clarke's misfortune and added that to a race win, to take the honours on the day. Jody Whitmore took second and Scott Linley finished third. Eddie Davies dominated all three races in the masters from start to finish, leaving Geoff Sharp to fend off Antony Barrett for second overall on the day. Not to be missed was the 250cc class. Alex Thompson put in an inch-perfect performance with three wins in the open class. George Callaway was on top form too, until the final race in which he took a tumble and hit the ground hard. Connor Smith took second overall ahead of Luke Gilboy. Modified rider Luke Cooper appeared to be off the pace in race one, crossing the chequered flag in fourth behind race winner Harry Miller. Undeterred, Cooper came back to take the following two race wins, securing first overall on the day. Connor Taylor gave Daniel Lewis a run for his money in the standard class, but Lewis just pulled the pin and took all three race wins. With a race win apiece in the stock class, it went down to the wire in the final race for Connor McKenna and Harry Moore. McKenna clinched the overall victory, just three points ahead of Moore. Bradley Swinbank was certainly on a mission in the 100 geared class. With the first two race wins under his belt, he was looking good for the triple. Unfortunately, in the latter stages of the final race and while out front, Swinbank "kissed" the fence and had to settle for third position behind his buddy Harry Walker and Bailey Edwards. All was not lost for Swinbank though as his race wins secured him the top podium position on the day. Jordan Harris of the modified class was smiling all the way with three perfect race wins. Harry Ruby in the standards was smiling too, bagging first overall and 114 very important points. The young lads and lasses of the 50 modified, standard and stock classes all lined up together. Each of these classes had newcomers joining them on the line. Modified rider George Oliver had three impressive wins, as did Toby Boothroyd in the standards. Newcomer to the stock class, "Surfer Dude" Alfie Walker, with the family number seven plate, had an outstanding day's racing with three race wins. Experts: 1. J Macbeth, 2. S Murphy, 3.
